Specialty Materials Lead

Electronics Assembly – Potting and Encapsulation

Experienced Manufacturing Lead, with excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills, to supervise and work in our electronics encapsulation and potting, and specialty material work centers.  These businesses are “built to stock” enterprises, and both require excellent planning and communication skills to ensure immediate delivery of production upon customer request.


  • Supervise, schedule, have the ability to work in and with all functions in Potting and Specialty Material areas
  • Directly supervises and lead 5-7 people, including training, development, and measurement of staff
  • Plan and execute manufacturing cells’ TWO-week production and coordinate  with master planning resources, utilizing internal and subcontracted resources
  • Lead efforts on quality, efficiency, and reduction in low value add work 
  • Oversee resources, planning tools, and equipment to ensure on-time delivery
  • Maintain and 5S lean manufacturing practices, and participate in planning and improvement initiatives
  • Coordinate with other work center leads and supply chain resources
  • Document processes to minimize scrap and rework and improve material yield; update work instructions
  • Coordinate and ensure appropriate training levels for all Mix Employees
  • Ensure immediate response, coordination, and corrective actions for NCMR and Corrective Actions
  • Reports to Director of Operations

Skills and Attributes Required:

  • Ability to lead, train and motivate up to 7 people
  • Ability to coordinate training and resources to ensure manufacturing cell meet production requirements and exceed the company’s key performance metrics
  • Ability to recognizing areas for improvement and coordinate resource to improve team’s performance
  • ERP systems knowledge and ability to plan work according to resources, skills, and priority
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings; ability to suggest and coordinate engineering changes
  • ESD training and contamination control training
  • Driven and motivated, with excellent organization and communication skills
  • Emotionally intelligent, able to resolve issues directly with others, willing to receive feedback
  • Positive contributor to overall company culture

Experience and Education:

  • 2+ years of experience managing people or projects
  • 5+ years engineering and process control of reactive adhesive systems, and familiarization with managing operations with high product mix and short cycle time
  • 5+ years of experience managing planning activities, or direct supervision of production operations
  • 4+ years of experience in an ISO-9001/AS9100 – certified manufacturing company
  • Excellent Microsoft Office proficiency including Word, Excel, and Access, and the ability to solve problems with them
  • 5+ years working with an MES/ERP system
  • Critical thinking and structure problem-solving methods, with excellent organizing skills and discipline
  • Preferred:  Experience with 5S and Lean Manufacturing principles, as well as Six Sigma Training
